How does delivery work?

Every roaster on Coffee Nerdery ships your coffee directly to you, usually roasted to order. So delivery is charged per roaster, and free delivery thresholds apply per roaster too, not across your whole basket. Order from three roasters, and each delivery is counted separately.

We know that feels unfamiliar, because the ‘everything store’ trained us all to expect free shipping on everything. But that "free" was never really free; it’s paid for by scale that small roasters can’t replicate, and margins squeezed from suppliers. Coffee Nerdery takes nothing from your postage. Every penny goes to the roaster to cover the cost of getting your coffee to you. Paying it directly is a small act of support for an independent business doing one thing exceptionally well.

What to Expect

This is what good decaf should be: full-bodied, genuinely flavourful, and honest about what it is. The Colombian Tumbaga Sugarcane Decaf from Bell's Beans uses high-altitude washed coffee from Cauca, Tolima, and Antioquia, decaffeinated using ethyl acetate derived from sugarcane molasses.

The Cup

Expect a full, round body with a soft, almost creamy mouthfeel. The acidity is low and gentle, deliberately selected to work with the decaffeination process rather than against it. This is a clean cup with no funk or ferment character, just straightforward chocolate and nutty sweetness with subtle apple and plum in the background. The sugarcane EA process has done what it's supposed to: removed the caffeine without stripping the coffee bare. You get caramel sweetness and a satisfying weight that doesn't feel compromised.

Who This Is For

This suits anyone who wants a proper coffee in the evening or needs to avoid caffeine without sacrificing flavour. It's approachable, balanced, and won't surprise you with sharp acidity or unusual notes.

If you're chasing bright, fruity complexity or delicate floral character, this isn't that coffee. It's built for comfort and consistency, not adventure.

Best for: Decaf drinkers who want full body and chocolate sweetness without compromise.

How to Brew This Coffee

The full body and low acidity make this excellent for espresso, where the chocolate and caramel notes come through with satisfying weight. French press emphasises the round, creamy mouthfeel and lets the nutty sweetness linger. Aeropress offers flexibility, giving you clarity if you want it or body if you push the brew time longer.

Description from Roaster

This is a fully washed medium roasted sugarcane decaffeinated Columbian arabica coffee. This amazing decaf has a full bodied with a chocolatey, nutty flavour and hints of apple, caramel and plum to round it off. If it wasn’t written on the bag you’d never know it was a decaf! ...

Ways to Brew

  • Espresso

    Espresso

An intense, concentrated brewing method that forces hot water through finely-ground coffee under high pressure. This produces a small, powerful shot with rich crema, serving as the foundation for countless coffee drinks while delivering bold flavors and aromatic complexity.

  • French Press

    French Press

A French Press (or Cafetiere) is a simple, manual coffee maker that brews rich, full-bodied coffee by steeping coarse grounds in hot water, then separating them by pressing a mesh filter down with a plunger, allowing the coffee's natural oils and sediment to remain for a bolder flavour.

  • Aeropress

    Aeropress

An innovative, portable brewing device that uses air pressure to extract coffee quickly and efficiently. This versatile method allows for experimentation with brewing times and techniques, producing anything from espresso-style concentrates to smooth, full-flavored cups with remarkable consistency.

Bell's Beans

Bell’s Beans is a family-run speciality coffee roastery based in Surrey, founded by Chris after leaving a career in engineering to pursue his passion for coffee. What began as home-roasting experiments on a small Gene Cafe machine soon evolved into a micro-roastery built alongside his home, where he combines an engineering mindset with a deep curiosity for the science and variability of coffee roasting. Bell’s Beans focuses exclusively on speciality-grade coffees sourced through ethical importers and producers who support farmers and their communities, with a preference for quality and transparency over scale. Intentionally remaining small and independent, the roastery prioritises craftsmanship, seasonal coffees, and selective partnerships, reflecting a philosophy of modesty while consistently refining its pursuit of excellent coffee.
