What to Expect
This Ugandan natural from the Rwenzori Mountains is a fruit-forward filter coffee with an unusual edge. Grown at 1800–2000 metres by Bukonzo smallholders and processed naturally at the Kalingwe washing station, it brings strawberry, marzipan, and rose into the cup — a combination that's both sweet and floral, with the fermented fruit character you'd expect from a well-executed natural process.
The Cup
The body is medium to full, with a round, juicy mouthfeel that carries the fruit notes well without feeling heavy. Acidity is bright and present — expect a lively, berry-like tartness that sits somewhere between citric and malic. The natural process adds a layer of fermented sweetness, clean enough to stay approachable but distinct enough to feel different from your everyday washed coffee. The rose note adds a floral lift that keeps things interesting without tipping into perfume territory.
Who This Is For
If you enjoy fruity, complex coffees and you're comfortable with a bit of ferment character, this will reward you. It's for drinkers who want something a little unusual but not polarising.
If you prefer a smooth, low-acid, chocolate-forward cup, this one will challenge you.
Best for: Filter drinkers who like bright, fruit-driven coffees with a floral edge.
How to Brew This Coffee
A V60 will give you the cleanest expression of the strawberry and rose notes, with good clarity and separation. Filter methods like a Kalita Wave or Chemex will emphasise the juicy body and round out the acidity slightly. An Aeropress works well if you want a punchier, more concentrated cup that brings the marzipan sweetness forward — it's also forgiving if you're still dialling in.

Bell's Beans
Bell’s Beans is a family-run speciality coffee roastery based in Surrey, founded by Chris after leaving a career in engineering to pursue his passion for coffee. What began as home-roasting experiments on a small Gene Cafe machine soon evolved into a micro-roastery built alongside his home, where he combines an engineering mindset with a deep curiosity for the science and variability of coffee roasting. Bell’s Beans focuses exclusively on speciality-grade coffees sourced through ethical importers and producers who support farmers and their communities, with a preference for quality and transparency over scale.
