What to Expect
This is Clifton Coffee's new house filter from Zambia, and it's a quietly confident all-rounder. Expect pecan, toffee apple, and milk chocolate — a sweet, approachable cup that leans into nutty warmth without losing clarity.
The Cup
Medium body with a smooth, rounded mouthfeel. The acidity is gentle and balanced — present enough to keep things lively, but not sharp or citric. This is a clean, washed coffee with no funk or ferment character. It's straightforward in the best sense: sweet, nutty, and easy to dial in. The Starmaya variety and 1600 MASL altitude give it enough complexity to stay interesting, but it won't challenge you.
Who This Is For
This is for drinkers who want a reliable, everyday filter coffee that doesn't demand fuss or precision. It's also a good choice if you're new to specialty coffee and want something approachable that still tastes like its origin.
If you're chasing bright, fruity acidity or experimental processing, this won't scratch that itch.
Best for: Daily filter drinkers who value consistency, sweetness, and a smooth, chocolatey cup.
How to Brew This Coffee
This coffee works beautifully in a V60, where the washed process and medium body come through with clarity and balance. It's equally at home in a Filter setup — drip pots and Kalita Wave will highlight the toffee apple sweetness without any fuss. For a fuller, rounder cup that emphasises the pecan and chocolate notes, try it in a French Press.

We’re thrilled to introduce our new house filter, sourced from a unique and underrepresented origin.
Hailing from Mbala in northern Zambia, Mount Sunzu Coffee sits on a 780-hectare estate with agricultural roots dating back to 1890. Once a mid-1900s coffee farm, the land has been revitalised with solar powered irrigation, soil restoration, and 600 hectares of reforested Miombo forest. Today, 115 hectares are dedicated to coffee cultivation, supported by a washing station, dry mill, raised drying beds, and beekeeping to promote biodiversity. Guided by climate smart and community focused practices, Mount Sunzu employs over 120 full-time and 120 seasonal workers, offering fair wages and benefits, while investing in local infrastructure, renewable energy, and environmental restoration. This description comes from Clifton Coffee Roasters UK, who roasts this coffee. Ways to Brew
-
V60
V60 is a popular Japanese, cone-shaped pour-over coffee dripper designed for brewing clean, aromatic, and flavorful coffee. Known for its 60-degree angle, large single hole, and internal spiral ribs, it optimises water flow for a precise, quick, and customisable brewing process, typically 2-3 minutes.
-
Filter
A filter coffee machine (or drip coffee maker) is an often electric kitchen appliance that brews coffee by heating water, passing it through ground coffee and a filter, and dripping the finished brew into a carafe.
-
French Press
A French Press (or Cafetiere) is a simple, manual coffee maker that brews rich, full-bodied coffee by steeping coarse grounds in hot water, then separating them by pressing a mesh filter down with a plunger, allowing the coffee's natural oils and sediment to remain for a bolder flavour.
