What to Expect

This Nicaraguan decaf from Clifton Coffee doesn't taste like compromise. The sugarcane EA process keeps the sweetness intact, and what you get is a comforting, chocolate-leaning cup with dried fruit and warm spice running through it.

The Cup

Medium body with a round, soft mouthfeel that feels fuller than many decafs. Acidity is gentle and balanced, leaning more toward the sweetness of dried cranberry than anything sharp or citric. It's clean rather than funky, with toffee and spiced chocolate doing most of the talking. The EA decaf process has done its job well here, muting the brightness just enough to let the inherent sweetness of the Nicaraguan beans come forward without flattening the flavour entirely.

Who This Is For

If you want an evening coffee that doesn't keep you awake but still tastes like proper coffee, this delivers. It's approachable, sweet, and won't polarise anyone at the breakfast table.

If you're chasing bright, fruit-forward acidity or delicate floral notes, this isn't that coffee.

Best for: Decaf drinkers who want chocolate and comfort without the caffeine crash later.

How to Brew This Coffee

The espresso roast works beautifully as espresso, where the medium body and toffee sweetness shine through milk drinks without getting lost. For the filter roast, try it in a French press to emphasise that round, comforting body and let the spiced chocolate notes develop fully. An Aeropress gives you flexibility across both roast profiles, offering clarity if you want to pick out the dried cranberry, or richness if you brew it stronger.

Ways to Brew

  • Espresso

    Espresso

Coffees hand-picked for espresso, chosen by analysing each one's roast, body and flavour rather than relying on the roaster's label. These are beans with the sweetness, depth and structure to pull a rich, balanced shot under pressure, from chocolatey blends to fruit-forward single origins. Every coffee here earned its place by how it actually performs in the basket. New to pulling shots? Read our espresso brewing basics.

  • French Press

    French Press

A collection of coffees matched to full-immersion brewing, where a metal filter lets body and oils come through in full. We've analysed each one for the weight and richness that suit the press, giving you bold, textured, deeply satisfying cups. If you like your coffee full-bodied, these beans are chosen for you. New to it? See our guide to French press brewing.

  • Aeropress

    Aeropress

A curated range of coffees suited to the Aeropress, selected on their own merits through our attribute analysis. We look for the clarity and balance this fast, pressure-assisted method rewards, so whether you brew short and concentrated or long and clean, each bean here is chosen to give you a bright, well-defined cup. Want to get the most from yours? See our Aeropress brewing guide.
