What to Expect
This is Honduras doing what it does best: delivering a reliable, sweet espresso that doesn't need theatrics to impress. Village Organic from Clifton Coffee is a washed single-origin built for everyday drinking, with fig jam sweetness, hazelnut richness, and a biscuity speculoos warmth that makes it easy to love.
The Cup
Expect a full, round body with a creamy mouthfeel that carries weight without heaviness. Acidity is low and gentle, more of a soft backdrop than a feature, which keeps the cup smooth and approachable. The washed process ensures clean flavour development, letting the Bourbon, Typica, and Catuai varieties express their classic sweetness without any funk or ferment character. This is straightforward, comforting coffee.
Who This Is For
Perfect for drinkers who want a dependable, sweet espresso that works well with milk and doesn't demand precision brewing. It's the kind of coffee that suits a busy morning or a reliable flat white.
If you're chasing bright, fruity acidity or experimental ferment character, this won't scratch that itch.
Best for: Espresso lovers who value consistency, sweetness, and a full body over complexity.
How to Brew This Coffee
This espresso roast shines in an Espresso machine, where its full body and low acidity create a forgiving, sweet shot that pairs beautifully with milk. It also works well in a Moka pot, which amplifies its rich, nutty character without overwhelming bitterness. For those who prefer immersion, a French Press will emphasise the creamy body and bring out the fig jam sweetness in a gentler, more rounded cup.

The Village Espresso has been an integral part of Clifton since we began roasting coffee in 2013. It encapsulates everything a reliable espresso should be; rich, sweet and versatile, making it a firm favourite with staff and customers alike. Now your favourite coffee is getting an upgrade.
This year we have decided to make it better still, and bring our Honduran coffee to the forefront for a single origin House Espresso. We are incredibly proud of our newly developed organic supply chains that will help us to further showcase the fantastic farmers that we work with. This is Village Organic.
Village Organic is produced by a cooperative of female farmers in Honduras, known as COMUCAP (Coordinadora de Mujeres Campesinas de La Paz). These women focus on cultivating high-quality, organic coffee while promoting gender equality and empowering local communities. Grown in the mountainous region of La Paz, it is celebrated for its rich, full-bodied flavour with notes of hazelnut and fig jam. The Comucap cooperative emphasises sustainable farming practices and fair trade, ensuring both environmental responsibility and fair compensation for their farmers. Village Espresso delivers not only a great cup, but also supports social and economic change.

Ways to Brew
-
Espresso
Coffees hand-picked for espresso, chosen by analysing each one's roast, body and flavour rather than relying on the roaster's label. These are beans with the sweetness, depth and structure to pull a rich, balanced shot under pressure, from chocolatey blends to fruit-forward single origins. Every coffee here earned its place by how it actually performs in the basket. New to pulling shots? Read our espresso brewing basics.
-
Moka
Coffees curated for the moka pot's concentrated, stovetop intensity, each assessed for how it stands up to high-heat brewing. We look for robust body and low-acidity sweetness that carry through this method, delivering the strong, espresso-adjacent cup the moka pot is known for. First time brewing? Read how to use a moka pot.
-
French Press
A collection of coffees matched to full-immersion brewing, where a metal filter lets body and oils come through in full. We've analysed each one for the weight and richness that suit the press, giving you bold, textured, deeply satisfying cups. If you like your coffee full-bodied, these beans are chosen for you. New to it? See our guide to French press brewing.
