How does delivery work?

Every roaster on Coffee Nerdery ships your coffee directly to you, usually roasted to order. So delivery is charged per roaster, and free delivery thresholds apply per roaster too, not across your whole basket. Order from three roasters, and each delivery is counted separately.

We know that feels unfamiliar, because the ‘everything store’ trained us all to expect free shipping on everything. But that "free" was never really free; it’s paid for by scale that small roasters can’t replicate, and margins squeezed from suppliers. Coffee Nerdery takes nothing from your postage. Every penny goes to the roaster to cover the cost of getting your coffee to you. Paying it directly is a small act of support for an independent business doing one thing exceptionally well.

What to Expect

This is classic Kenyan coffee done right. Kenya Gatubu from the Iyego Coffee Cooperative Society delivers the tart, juicy brightness Muranga County is known for, with lime, blackcurrant, and melon leading the charge.

The Cup

Expect high, citric acidity — the kind that makes your mouth water. The body is medium and juicy, with a sparkling, almost effervescent mouthfeel. This is a clean, washed coffee with no funk or ferment character, just pure, fruit-forward clarity. The blackcurrant note is textbook Kenyan SL28, while the lime and melon add a refreshing, almost tropical edge. It's bright, it's lively, and it doesn't apologise for it.

Who This Is For

If you love high-acidity, fruit-forward coffees that wake up your palate, this is your coffee. It's for drinkers who want clarity and complexity, not comfort.

If you prefer a smooth, low-acid cup with chocolate and caramel, this one will challenge you.

Best for: Filter enthusiasts who crave bright, fruit-driven Kenyan coffees with serious acidity.

How to Brew This Coffee

A V60 will give you maximum clarity and let that lime and blackcurrant sing with precision. Filter methods like Chemex or Kalita Wave work beautifully to showcase the juicy body and sparkling acidity. For espresso, expect a tart, fruit-bomb shot — the light-medium roast and high acidity make it lively and intense, though not for those chasing sweetness and body.

Ways to Brew

  • V60

    V60

V60 is a popular Japanese, cone-shaped pour-over coffee dripper designed for brewing clean, aromatic, and flavorful coffee. Known for its 60-degree angle, large single hole, and internal spiral ribs, it optimises water flow for a precise, quick, and customisable brewing process, typically 2-3 minutes.

  • Filter

    Filter

A filter coffee machine (or drip coffee maker) is an often electric kitchen appliance that brews coffee by heating water, passing it through ground coffee and a filter, and dripping the finished brew into a carafe.

  • Espresso

    Espresso

An intense, concentrated brewing method that forces hot water through finely-ground coffee under high pressure. This produces a small, powerful shot with rich crema, serving as the foundation for countless coffee drinks while delivering bold flavors and aromatic complexity.
