How does delivery work?

Every roaster on Coffee Nerdery ships your coffee directly to you, usually roasted to order. So delivery is charged per roaster, and free delivery thresholds apply per roaster too, not across your whole basket. Order from three roasters, and each delivery is counted separately.

We know that feels unfamiliar, because the ‘everything store’ trained us all to expect free shipping on everything. But that "free" was never really free; it’s paid for by scale that small roasters can’t replicate, and margins squeezed from suppliers. Coffee Nerdery takes nothing from your postage. Every penny goes to the roaster to cover the cost of getting your coffee to you. Paying it directly is a small act of support for an independent business doing one thing exceptionally well.

What to Expect

Session Coffee's Barbless Blend is a half-caff hybrid built for volume drinkers. It pairs a naturally processed Brazilian lot with a sugarcane-decaffeinated Colombian, landing you at roughly 50% of the caffeine but none of the compromise in flavour. You get stone fruit sweetness from the Brazil and clean citrus brightness from the Colombia, all wrapped in a medium body that won't wear you out by cup three.

The Cup

The body sits comfortably in the medium range with a round, approachable mouthfeel. The natural process from Brazil brings some weight and a soft, fruity sweetness, while the decaf component keeps things smooth rather than heavy. Acidity is moderate and gently citric, more pear and nectarine than sharp lemon. There's no funk or ferment character here—this is a clean, straightforward cup designed for easy drinking. The almond note adds a subtle nuttiness that balances the fruit without tipping into chocolate territory.

Who This Is For

This is for anyone who wants to drink more coffee without the jitters, or who needs an afternoon option that won't wreck their sleep. It's also a solid choice if you're weaning off full-caff but aren't ready to commit to full decaf.

If you're chasing high acidity or complex, tea-like clarity, this won't deliver that. It's built for comfort, not fireworks.

Best for: High-volume drinkers who want flavour without the full caffeine load.

How to Brew This Coffee

The medium body and balanced profile make this versatile across methods. A Filter brew will highlight the stone fruit sweetness and keep the cup clean and easy. Aeropress works well if you want a bit more body and a rounder mouthfeel without going full immersion. For a richer, more textured cup that emphasises the natural process character, try it in a French Press.

Description from Roaster

We are really passionate about this one! The inspiration for this came from talking with a fantastic business local to us called Barbless Flies. In talking about fishing and how hot drinks in flasks are a staple of the hobby, we came up with the idea of a coffee that you coul...

Ways to Brew

  • Filter

    Filter

A filter coffee machine (or drip coffee maker) is an often electric kitchen appliance that brews coffee by heating water, passing it through ground coffee and a filter, and dripping the finished brew into a carafe.

  • Aeropress

    Aeropress

An innovative, portable brewing device that uses air pressure to extract coffee quickly and efficiently. This versatile method allows for experimentation with brewing times and techniques, producing anything from espresso-style concentrates to smooth, full-flavored cups with remarkable consistency.

  • French Press

    French Press

A French Press (or Cafetiere) is a simple, manual coffee maker that brews rich, full-bodied coffee by steeping coarse grounds in hot water, then separating them by pressing a mesh filter down with a plunger, allowing the coffee's natural oils and sediment to remain for a bolder flavour.

Forge Valley Roasters

Forge Valley Roasters was founded in 2023 by Chris and Tash in North Yorkshire, growing from humble cottage beginnings into a speciality coffee roastery rooted in the landscapes and communities of the North York Moors and Scarborough. Their journey began over 15 years ago and has taken them across the Atlantic and back, ultimately leading them to establish a home and purpose on the North East coast of England. Starting with a small Cormorant roaster in their kitchen and selling at local markets, they gradually built a micro roastery on the grounds of their cottage and expanded into vibrant community spaces, including the Dawnay Estate. Through continuous learning, experimentation, and a deep commitment to craft, they have developed a hands-on approach to roasting that reflects both technical precision and genuine Yorkshire hospitality, supported throughout by a strong and loyal local community.
