What to Expect
A Colombian decaf that doesn't taste like compromise. The sugarcane decaffeination process pulls out the caffeine but leaves the fruit-forward character intact, giving you a clean, gently sweet cup from the Fresno and Tolima regions that works any time of day.
The Cup
Medium body with a soft, round mouthfeel. The acidity is present but gentle — more caramel-apple than sharp citrus — which is typical of the ethyl acetate decaf process. Sweetness takes centre stage here, with brown sugar and stone fruit notes coming through cleanly. There's no funky ferment character, just straightforward Colombian goodness with the edges smoothed out. The Red and Yellow Caturra varieties grown at 1450 metres give you enough complexity to stay interesting without demanding too much attention.
Who This Is For
Anyone who wants proper coffee after 3pm, or who's cutting back on caffeine but refuses to settle for flat, lifeless decaf. This is approachable without being boring.
If you're chasing the bright, sparkling acidity of a washed Kenyan or Ethiopian, this won't deliver that intensity.
Best for: Decaf drinkers who want origin character and sweetness without the jitters.
How to Brew This Coffee
The medium body and balanced profile make this flexible across methods. Filter brewing brings out the stone fruit sweetness and keeps things clean. Aeropress gives you a bit more body and rounds out the cup nicely if you prefer something with more presence. French Press emphasises the soft, caramel-like sweetness and creates a comforting, full-bodied brew that works beautifully in the evening.

The Colombia Sugarcane Decaf Coffee Story
It's been a long time coming and this must be our most requested thing since we opened! Here it is, our single-origin decaf Colombian coffee, cultivated with passion and precision at the El Vergel Estate, a family-run farm that has been innovating coffee production since 1995. After transitioning from avocados to specialty coffee, the Bayter Family, guided by expert Miguel Jimenez, embraced pioneering natural processes, including the revolutionary Koji fermentation method. Led by the dynamic trio of Martha Montenegro, Elias, and Shady, El Vergel Estate fosters a vibrant community while producing exquisite coffee. This flagship decaf, meticulously refined over a decade, harmonizes tradition and innovation with a unique extraction process using circular containers and a blend of water and ethyl acetate, gently removing caffeine while preserving the coffee's inherent fruity notes. This method ensures a caffeine level of precisely 0.1%, guaranteeing a pure and flavorful experience with every cup. Savor the culmination of years of dedication and expertise in every sip – a rich, nuanced flavor profile that will delight even the most discerning palate!

Forge Valley Roasters
Forge Valley Roasters was founded in 2023 by Chris and Tash in North Yorkshire, growing from humble cottage beginnings into a speciality coffee roastery rooted in the landscapes and communities of the North York Moors and Scarborough. Their journey began over 15 years ago and has taken them across the Atlantic and back, ultimately leading them to establish a home and purpose on the North East coast of England. Starting with a small Cormorant roaster in their kitchen and selling at local markets, they gradually built a micro roastery on the grounds of their cottage and expanded into vibrant community spaces, including the Dawnay Estate. Through continuous learning, experimentation, and a deep commitment to craft, they have developed a hands-on approach to roasting that reflects both technical precision and genuine Yorkshire hospitality, supported throughout by a strong and loyal local community.
