What to Expect
Fanatic is Magnetic North's house blend built for comfort and consistency. Brazilian pulped natural meets Guatemalan washed in a medium-dark espresso roast that leans into chocolate, caramel, and roasted hazelnut — the kind of coffee that works with milk and doesn't ask much of you in return.
The Cup
This is a heavy-bodied, low-acidity coffee with a dense, creamy mouthfeel. The Brazilian component brings nutty sweetness and syrupy texture, while the Guatemalan side adds a touch of caramel and balances the blend without introducing brightness. It's clean and straightforward — no funk, no surprises. The roast level softens any sharp edges and pushes chocolate and toffee to the front.
Who This Is For
If you drink your coffee with milk and want something reliable that tastes good without fuss, this will suit you. It's approachable, forgiving, and built for everyday drinking.
If you prefer bright, fruity filter coffees or want to taste distinct origin character, this isn't the one. The roast and blend design prioritise comfort over complexity.
Best for: Milk-based espresso drinkers who want a dependable, chocolatey cup every morning.
How to Brew This Coffee
Espresso is the natural home for this blend — the body and sweetness hold up well under pressure, and it's built to cut through milk. A Moka pot will give you a concentrated, rich brew that mirrors the espresso character without the machine. If you prefer a slower cup, a French press emphasises the syrupy body and lets the chocolate and hazelnut notes sit front and centre.

ABOUT THE PRODUCERS
Our Brazil component now comes from SanCoffee, a speciality coffee cooperative founded in 2000 in the Campo das Vertentes region of Minas Gerais. Caramelo is one of the cooperative’s core coffees, produced using pulped natural processing and built around the classic characteristics that make Brazilian coffees so dependable in espresso blends: notes of nuts, toffee and molasses, with a dense, creamy body. The coffee is sourced exclusively from cooperative members in the same region each year, helping deliver consistency from harvest to harvest while maintaining full traceability back to the producers involved.
What drew us to SanCoffee goes beyond the cup profile. The cooperative was created with a long-term focus on quality, transparency and sustainability, and today works with growers across the region to improve access to speciality coffee markets and increase returns at farm level. SanCoffee estimates that around 85% of the FOB value returns to producers after export and logistics costs, and the cooperative has also invested heavily in environmental and social initiatives, including becoming carbon neutral in 2020 and supporting smaller growers through its Beyond Borders programme. It’s a coffee that fits Fanatic well: approachable, versatile and consistent, but backed by a supply chain with genuine substance behind it.
Our Guatemala component comes from the El Cabro plot on the Finca La Bolsa farm.
Finca La Bolsa was bought by Jorge Vides, a distinguished medical professional, in 1958. Prior to this, the land was not used for coffee production. Jorge won numerous awards for coffee production and for his services to the Huehuetenango region, and the main hospital in the coffee-growing community was named after him. In 2002, La Bolsa competed in the Cup of Excellence competition and placed second, scoring 94.98.
La Bolsa sits between two mountains, which provide a very stable, humid microclimate. Combined with the limestone-rich soils, this gives the coffee a unique profile, with a rich, syrupy body and plenty of sweetness.

Ways to Brew
-
Espresso
An intense, concentrated brewing method that forces hot water through finely-ground coffee under high pressure. This produces a small, powerful shot with rich crema, serving as the foundation for countless coffee drinks while delivering bold flavors and aromatic complexity.
-
Moka
The Moka brewing method uses a three-chambered, stove-top pot to create strong, concentrated coffee by forcing hot water through coffee grounds using steam pressure.
-
French Press
A French Press (or Cafetiere) is a simple, manual coffee maker that brews rich, full-bodied coffee by steeping coarse grounds in hot water, then separating them by pressing a mesh filter down with a plunger, allowing the coffee's natural oils and sediment to remain for a bolder flavour.
