What to Expect
This washed Colombian from Inza delivers the balance Colombia is known for, with a twist. You'll find familiar chocolate sweetness grounded by a clean, bright grapefruit acidity and subtle berry notes that keep things interesting.
The Cup
Medium body with a silky, approachable mouthfeel. The acidity is moderate and citric, leaning toward grapefruit brightness without being sharp or aggressive. It's clean and straightforward, with no fermented or funky character. The chocolate base provides structure, while the fruit notes add lift without dominating. This is washed processing doing what it does best: letting the origin speak clearly.
Who This Is For
This suits drinkers who want a reliable, well-rounded coffee that works across the day and across brew methods. It's versatile without being boring.
If you're chasing intense fruit-forward complexity or experimental processing, this won't deliver that. It's classic, not adventurous.
Best for: Everyday drinkers who value balance and consistency over novelty.
How to Brew This Coffee
The medium roast and balanced profile make this flexible. Try it as filter to appreciate the grapefruit brightness and chocolate sweetness in equal measure. It works well on espresso too, where the body fills out and the chocolate comes forward. For a fuller, rounder cup that emphasises texture, reach for your French press.

Colombia has a reputation for producing high quality, mild, well-balanced coffees and is the third largest coffee producer worldwide (after Brazil and Vietnam).[38][39] Coffee arrived in Colombia in the 1700's but it wasn't until 1808 that the first commercial production of 100 green coffee bags (60kg each) was registered.[40] This grew throughout the latter half of the 19th century until a fall of international prices during the transition from the 19th to 20th centuries. This caused the profitability of large estates to plummet and resulted in the subsequent growth in the number of smaller, family run farms, which now generate income for over 500,000 coffee farming families.[38]Cauca is the fourth largest coffee producing region of Colombia, accounting for 10.46% of the country's annual production. With fertile volcanic soil, high elevations and steady temperatures between 15°C – 23°C, the area is well suited to producing speciality coffee.[76][77]
Inza is located in eastern Cauca, bordering the neighbouring department of Huila. It is situated within the mountains, which make up the central Andean mountain range. Coffee here is mostly grown by smallholders whose farms average just 2 hectares each and these loosely group into 16 communities within 35 villages. Sporadic rain in the area makes it hard for smallholders to dry their coffee consistently and within a timeframe that will guarantee good quality. To solve this, they deliver their coffee to Jesus Volveras, the local collector, who has the facility to dry any cherries which are received wet. Once dried they are delivered to the milling facility in Popayan, where they are cupped, graded and quality controlled.[77]

Ways to Brew
-
Filter
A filter coffee machine (or drip coffee maker) is an often electric kitchen appliance that brews coffee by heating water, passing it through ground coffee and a filter, and dripping the finished brew into a carafe.
-
Espresso
An intense, concentrated brewing method that forces hot water through finely-ground coffee under high pressure. This produces a small, powerful shot with rich crema, serving as the foundation for countless coffee drinks while delivering bold flavors and aromatic complexity.
-
French Press
A French Press (or Cafetiere) is a simple, manual coffee maker that brews rich, full-bodied coffee by steeping coarse grounds in hot water, then separating them by pressing a mesh filter down with a plunger, allowing the coffee's natural oils and sediment to remain for a bolder flavour.
