What to Expect
A clean, fruit-forward Tanzanian coffee from Ngila Estate that leans into red berry character without tipping into funk. The Kent peaberry brings concentrated sweetness and a juicy mouthfeel that sits somewhere between a classic washed East African and something a bit rounder.
The Cup
Medium body with a silky, juicy texture that coats the palate nicely. Acidity is present but not sharp—think ripe redcurrant rather than tart citrus. It's bright enough to keep things lively, but the omni roast has developed enough sweetness to balance it out. This is a clean cup with no fermented or funky notes—the washed process keeps everything transparent, letting the red fruit character shine without distraction.
Who This Is For
If you like fruit-forward coffees but find some naturals too intense or boozy, this hits a sweet spot. It's approachable enough for daily drinking but interesting enough to pay attention to.
If you're after a heavy, chocolatey cup or prefer very low acidity, this won't be your speed.
Best for: Filter drinkers who want clean fruit character and espresso drinkers looking for something bright but balanced.
How to Brew This Coffee
The omni roast makes this versatile. Try it on V60 to highlight the red fruit clarity and brightness—the washed process rewards precision brewing. It works beautifully as espresso too, where the juicy body and moderate acidity create a sweet, fruit-driven shot without overwhelming tartness. Aeropress sits nicely in the middle, giving you control over whether you want to emphasise brightness or body.

Sanctuary Coffee
Sanctuary Coffee was founded in 2021 by Marcus and Rhian, who set out to create a coffee company driven not only by quality and craft, but by a deeper social purpose. Inspired by the challenges faced by animal rescue organisations in the UK, they built the brand around the idea of using speciality coffee as a force for good, supporting rehoming charities and animal welfare initiatives alongside their roasting work. Starting in London with a small wholesale customer base and pop-up appearances across markets and collaborations, Sanctuary Coffee quickly gained recognition for both its coffee and its cause. As the business grew, it expanded beyond the capital, establishing a permanent home in Devon while continuing to evolve its production and wholesale operations. Today, Sanctuary Coffee balances high-quality roasting with a strong community ethos, using its growth to increase charitable impact and build a brand rooted in compassion, connection, and purpose.
