How does delivery work?

Every roaster on Coffee Nerdery ships your coffee directly to you, usually roasted to order. So delivery is charged per roaster, and free delivery thresholds apply per roaster too, not across your whole basket. Order from three roasters, and each delivery is counted separately.

We know that feels unfamiliar, because the ‘everything store’ trained us all to expect free shipping on everything. But that "free" was never really free; it’s paid for by scale that small roasters can’t replicate, and margins squeezed from suppliers. Coffee Nerdery takes nothing from your postage. Every penny goes to the roaster to cover the cost of getting your coffee to you. Paying it directly is a small act of support for an independent business doing one thing exceptionally well.

What to Expect

This natural Ethiopian from Chelbesa in Yirgacheffe is fruit-forward and unapologetic about it. Moon Roast's medium roast brings pineapple, passionfruit, and strawberry jam to the front, with the kind of fermented sweetness that makes natural processing so divisive.

The Cup

The body sits somewhere between medium and full—substantial enough to work with milk, but not heavy. Acidity is present and bright, but the natural process rounds it out with jammy sweetness rather than sharp citrus. This is fermented fruit territory: expect tropical and berry notes that taste more like fruit compote than fresh berries. It's bold, a bit funky, and the kind of cup that announces itself.

Who This Is For

If you love fruit-bomb naturals and want something that works across brew methods, this delivers. The medium roast makes it more approachable than a light-roasted natural, and the body means it won't disappear in milk.

If you prefer clean, tea-like Ethiopians or find fermented fruit character off-putting, this isn't your coffee.

Best for: Adventurous drinkers who want a versatile natural Ethiopian that works black or with milk.

How to Brew This Coffee

A V60 will give you the clearest view of those tropical fruit notes and let the complexity shine through. The Aeropress handles the body well and lets you dial between clarity and richness depending on your recipe. If you want to lean into the jammy sweetness and full body, French Press will amplify exactly what makes this natural processing special.

Moon Roast Coffee

Moon Roast was founded in 2012 by Fran Bradshaw in Hampshire, building on a rich family heritage in the coffee trade that spans generations. What began as small-scale roasting in a garden shed quickly evolved into a respected speciality coffee roastery, driven by a passion for quality and craftsmanship. Set on a repurposed farm in the Hampshire countryside, Moon Roast reflects both its rural surroundings and its deep-rooted connection to coffee history, from Fran’s great-grandfather, a London coffee broker in the early 1900s, to his father, who developed iconic coffee blends. Through daily cupping and a relentless focus on quality, Fran continues this legacy, ensuring every roast embodies precision, care, and a commitment to exceptional coffee.
